cmntx records is a New York City-based label committed to supporting artists with distinctive, multifaceted outputs. cmntx was founded in 2021 by four composer-producers whose backgrounds didn't fit simply into just the "classical" tradition, and sought to help document the work of other non-traditional artists in our community. Our projects often cross lines and limitations of genre, aesthetic, and medium.
cmntx has made it our mission to make record production accessible and affordable for artists, and produce most of our projects in-house. As artists ourselves, we strongly believe that artists should maintain primary ownership of their creations, and not be tied down through exclusive agreements.
Our Interjections series is dedicated to playful experimentation, offering artists a space to explore new ideas and processes outside of their normal practices. We enjoy crafting non-traditional merchandise and event programming.
Having met in NYC as student transplants, "cmntx" is an abecedarian anagram of our home states: CT, MI, TN, and TX. We tend to pronounce it /səˈman(t)iks/, but are open to interpretations. Thanks for asking.

While cmntx’s projects are primarily developed from personal relationships, we’re always excited to hear new sounds. If you’d like us to consider a project, email us a link where we can hear some of your music and/or a description of what you’re working on.
We prefer to get involved with projects early on (ie. before production has begun), rather than receiving finished products. It’s more fun for everyone involved, and part of our mission is to offer production resources to artists. But don’t let that stop you from sending us your mastered record if you think we’re the right fit!
